This tour focusses on The Viking Age and the change to Christianity. Starting from Aarhus we visit and explore the excavated Viking fortress Fyrkat and the reconstructed farmstead from The Viking Age. Fyrkat is one of five ring fortresses-perfectly circular earthen fortresses with four gates and two roads meeting at the center-built by King Harald Bluetooth. The Viking farmstead is a reconstruction of an actual farm excavated near Jelling, the birthplace of Harald Bluetooth. We also visit a beautiful, romanesque church with fantastic frescoes depicting the Christian Creed. Back in Aarhus we can visit the small viking museum in the town centre, located on site.
